The Trachtenberg Office is pleased to announce that Patricia Salomon, MD has joined our office as our Senior Advisor for health and human services issues. A resident of Rockville, she is a graduate of Brandeis University and earned her M.D. at New York University.
As a physician, she worked in a variety of primary care centers in NYC (Lower East Side and the Bronx), Puerto Rico, Detroit and DC, mainly as a commissioned officer in United States Public Health Service. After transfer in 1988 to the USPHS headquarters in Rockville, MD, her responsibilities included serving as medical director for the Bureau of Primary Health Care, and quality assurance and primary care capacity development of more than 2500 primary care health centers for underserved populations throughout the US. She also helped shape policy on major public health issues such as the emerging AIDS epidemic, genetic testing, tuberculosis, migrant health, and homelessness. She also directed a 5 year government-sponsored research project to study integrating primary care services for children with mental health and substance abuse services for parents (Starting Early Starting Smart).
Dr. Salomon has been a Board member, Progressive Maryland, since its inception and has worked support of working families throughout Maryland. The organization was key to making Maryland the first state with a living wage.
